Returns and renewals

Lending periods

The standard lending period for books is 4 weeks. Items borrowed from our Media Center must be returned within 2 weeks. To review the due dates of the items you have borrowed, please check your library account.

Returns

Please return the borrowed items at our various sites and pay attention to the individual opening hours. You can also use return boxes at some of our sites, for instance at the central library on the university campus.

Renewals

As long as an item has not been reserved by another user, you can renew it up to five times using the self-service functions of your library account.

Overdue fees

Late returns will incur a penalty. Please consult our fee schedule (Gebührenverzeichnis) for more information..

If you receive a reminder notice, please renew your loan to avoid further penalties. If you are unable to renew a book, please return it to the library or your account may be closed temporarily.

Please note, fees can only be paid through our accounts service (separate operating hours apply) at the lending desk.

Lost books

If you lose a book, please notify our lending desk immediately to avoid incurring overdue fees.
